Browns Creek Otters, Spooky Reds, And A Hungry Manatee
Don Draper talking to Laura Palmer's father.
And that is precisely why we just can't have nice things anymore.
100% of the flashers in the 60s wore London Fog raincoats thanks to Don Draper.
so in other words...greed is good
Name another raincoat.
Jon Hamm is good in MM. But it’s also the reason that he looks so ridiculous in any other role.
Jon hamm is thw most sexiest man alive❤
What is happiness? It’s the moment you need more happiness Jesus Christ
Every time I see someone who has starred Twin Peaks I cannot help but imagining it's the same character due to some weird multidimensional shenanigan. To me, that is just Leland Palmer channeling his BOB persona.
Thank you for your time 👏🏿
What's happiness? 🔥🔥 2:20
but you cut the "wipe the blood off your mouth" comment at the end that wraps it up
The one part of this scene I didn't quite get was "tell me about napalm". Dow already makes napalm, so why did Don sit and explain to them what it was?
I think they were getting bad publicity for it (due to anti-war protests), and they wanted to probe Don as for how he would address it as part of his PR strategy. They weren't literally asking what it was of course.
This was Don at his best and most aggressive. Just mesmerizing. Amazing acting from Ray Wise too. A subtle awe behind his confident smile.
Was this a placement for London Fog raincoats?
Oh will he/
Charles Schwabb over here
Makes sense Leland Palmer works at Dow
I just chubbed up
That was cheesy.
I don’t get the significance of asking about his son in law. Why does that guy care if Ken is there or not?
Ken worked at the agency, so bringing him along would be an obvious attempt to try and leverage Ken's personal connection to Ed in the context of a business decision. It would have been an awkward and desperate move, certainly not a good choice in this situation. Ed saying "Ken knows better" was a subtle insult, as he implied that it was Ken himself (not Don and Roger) who "knew better" than to try that. They quite obviously wouldn't, and didn't need Ken to realize that.
I googled, that’s like 4k, why’s he got 4k in his wallet?
Done and done
2:19 The look on Roger's face was like, "Do your thing Don, bring it home".
“You’re not happy with anything.” Don Draper said with a disgusted and annoyed look on his face
That marketing guy is a total shit
2 seconds later he is even more drunk and abonding his family
What is often missed is that they GET this client completely offscreen, they just have it by the time the next season starts so this "impossible" meeting worked.
whole reply section full of comments that read like 10th grade english homework assignments. theres nothing about this show's writing that is more than skin deep. it's kind of cringe how a lot of you think it's "genius". yeah it has some good one-liners but for the most part its hamfisted and on-the-nose. "happiness is a moment before you want more happiness" lmao
Your comment reads like the rantings of a struggling eighth grade English student.
Lets be honest, this is him making a move for his company to survive. others see him being the man, I see him being desperate. Not a bad thing but it is what it is. Lord this is a good show. minus the last season or so.
I'm with you. I didn't see this as being a cool pitch and Don being the man. I see it as desperate. So confrontational as to be off putting. Refresh my memory..... Did they get the Dow account? I don't think they did. I think this whole scene is more indicative of Don psychological state.
Cut before "Wipe that blood of your face" 😑
Cut before "Wipe that blood of your face" 😑
Such bad writing. They act like there's substance but there's nothing.
The problem with this type of pitch is at a certain point your going to need to deliver on that 50%+ market share commitment
Dondrew Tate
Gah, getting Dow would be the most ridiculous account, like Don is saying, most their products sell themselves
Aw, you cut off Sterling’s response!! Awesome clip still.
Don then slept with all their wives
Damn. Now *I* want some napalm.
Missed it where rogerctelks Don he could wipe the blood off his mouth
My favorite Roger Stirling line to Don is, "No used to make you hard." Insulting and inspiring in ONE fell swoop.
I love that line, too. Wherever things get tough in life, I think of that.
Don could sell an ice box to an Eskimo.
in a way this is a very impressive sales pitch opener. In another way this is simply retarded
"I don't give a wooden nickel about your legacy" President Dugan
The guy that said Ken knows better, should have definitely played Frank Sinatra in a movie. Even his voice has a similar cadence
Ray Wise is a treasure of an actor. He stole the show in Twin Peaks, a show dominated by big performances.
I'll buy you a drink if you wipe the blood off your mouth
I love Mad Men but this scene is so unrealistic
Don vs Bob!
I'm not sure I ever saw a napalm commercial in the 1960s.
Meh.
